🏔️ Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp Trek (4,130 m), also called the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek, is a Himalayan classic that combines lush forests, terraced farmlands, and high alpine scenery. Nestled beneath a natural amphitheater of towering peaks, the trek culminates at the heart of the Annapurna range for jaw-dropping 360° mountain views.

🌏 Where the Trail Leads

Starting from Pokhara with road access to Nayapul or Ghandruk, the trail climbs through rhododendron forests and charming Gurung villages like Chomrong. From there, it continues via Deurali and Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC) before reaching Annapurna Base Camp (4,130 m). The route traces the Modi Khola valley, gradually narrowing into a glacial basin framed by towering peaks.

🏛️ Culture Along the Way

The trek passes through Gurung and Magar villages, where traditional farming lifestyles blend with warm hospitality. Buddhist chortens, prayer flags, and small temples dot the trail. Along the way, teahouses offer not just rest but a chance to connect with locals who maintain the trekking culture of the region.

📜 Permits and Access

Trekkers require:

  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
  • TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)

Independent trekking is allowed, though guides and porters are widely available. The trek is accessible via Pokhara, a vibrant lakeside city that serves as the gateway to the Annapurna region.
