Annapurna Circuit Trek
Besisahar

🏔️ Annapurna Circuit Trek
Encircling the majestic Annapurna Massif (8,091 m), the Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most iconic journeys, blending soaring Himalayan peaks, diverse cultures, and a dramatic range of landscapes. From subtropical valleys to high-altitude deserts, this classic trek delivers variety and adventure at every turn.
🌏 Where the Trail Leads
The circuit traditionally begins at Besisahar or Bhulbhule, tracing the Marsyangdi River valley through terraced fields and lush forests. Gradually, the route ascends into alpine meadows and arid plateaus reminiscent of Tibet. The trek’s high point is the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) — a windswept gateway between Manang and Mustang, offering breathtaking panoramas of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Dhaulagiri, and beyond.
🏛️ Culture Along the Way
The Annapurna Circuit is a living tapestry of Nepal’s cultural diversity. In the lower valleys, you encounter Gurung and Magar communities; further north, Tibetan-influenced villages such as Manang and Braga reveal ancient monasteries and chortens. Crossing into Mustang, the landscape shifts to a stark desert plateau dotted with Thakali settlements, known for their warm hospitality and apple orchards.
📜 Permits and Access
The trek lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Trekkers require:
- Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
- TIMS Card (Trekkers’ Information Management System)
Unlike Manaslu, the Annapurna Circuit does not require a restricted-area permit, and independent trekking is allowed (though guides are highly recommended for safety and logistics).
